Forney has plenty of chain restaurants along US-80. What it's short on is a patio where you can get a real michelada, a basket of tripa tacos and a seat in front of the game without a 40-minute wait. That's why a good chunk of our Sunday crowd has Forney plates. The drive is a straight shot south on FM-741, and it's a pretty one once you're past the new subdivisions.
If you're new to Forney, here's the short version of who we are. We're a trailer kitchen with a covered patio and an indoor room with TVs. You order at the window. The menu is tacos, tortas, burgers, wings and a long list of botanas preparadas: chicharrón preparado, Tostilocos, Tosticeviche, pepinos, elote en vaso. The micheladas are the reason we're called what we're called.
How to get here
FORNEY → CR 4106 · 15.2 MI · ~25 MIN
From downtown Forney, head south on FM-740, then cut over to FM-741 and keep going south until it meets US-175. Take US-175 east toward Crandall and exit at County Road 4106. It's about 15 miles and 25 minutes. If you live on the south side of Forney near FM-548 or FM-741, you'll be here faster.
Why Forney makes the drive
People from Forney tell us the same things. The kids can run around outside. Nobody rushes you off the table. Botanas preparadas are hard to find done right on this side of the county, and ours come loaded. Chicharrón preparado is $9, Tostilocos are $8.50, and you can add Hot Cheeto dust to anything for fifty cents.
We also go to Forney. The trailer is available for birthday parties, quinceañeras, graduation parties and company cookouts. If you'd rather not load everyone into cars, we'll park in your driveway or at your venue and run the window from there. Tell us the date and how many people, and we'll send a quote.
Forney calls itself the Antique Capital of Texas, and it's earned the title, but its Mexican snack scene is younger than its antique shops. If you've been searching "botanas preparadas Forney" and landing on places that don't actually make them, you're 25 minutes from a patio that does.
What Forney orders first
If it's your first trip down from Forney, start with the loaded nachos and a michelada. There's a reason it's the photo on our menu. Second round, go botanas: a chicharrón preparado for the table and Tostilocos for whoever likes it spicy. Game on? Make it a cubeta. Six beers for $25 will last you a quarter or two. Drive home sober or bring someone who will. FM-741 is dark at night.
Forney families with little ones like the early slot. Come at 5 on a Friday, grab a picnic table close to the trailer, and let the kids split a Maruchan preparada while you work through a michelada. By the time the string lights are fully glowing, the patio has turned into the Friday-night crowd and you can decide whether to stay for round two or head back up FM-741.
